Evaluation of Oxidative stress using Superoxide Dismutase and Lipid Peroxidation in Lichen Planus: A Tissue Level Enzymatic Analysis Study

Introduction: Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease of oral mucosa with unknown etiology.Many studies have suggested that increased oxidative stress, an imbalance in the antioxidant defense system maybe involved pathogenesis planus.Aim: The aim this study was to compare tissue levels Super oxide dismutase (SOD) and lipidperoxidation marker Malondialdehyde (MDA) established cases OLP healthy individuals.Methodology: Ten patients 10 control subjects matched for age sex were enrolled casecontrol study. SOD MDA measured both case groups.Results: statistically significant compared tohealthy controls (p<0.01). lipid peroxidation product relatively higher comparedto controls. Conclusion: current suggests damage one major causes forthe OLP.
